Before I start writing, I just want you to know that I'm just sharing what is a very honest problem. If your commenting on or reviewing this, it's most likely because you've experienced this before or your laughing at me
. Of course as usual please be as honest as possible as you share your advice, opinions and any mistakes you think you see that I've made.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the past few days, I've really wanted to write something but I honestly can't think of anything. I have particular ideas swimming in my head right now but the thought of working on them makes me feel really bored. To me these stories are sort of sad and for some reason I'm not thrilled to work on them or bother to add more depth. Even writing this now, I just feel like stopping. For some reason its like I'm frozen. The thought of writing feels like its lost its appeal. I started writing when I was seven years old and this has never hapened to me. Some part of me knows that I'm getting almost hysterical for no reason but another part is really scared.
I thought when you enjoyed doing something the thought of it causes an awakening. Isn't that what a hobby is meant to do? Give you lots of enjoyment? Satisfy you? I don't know what's going on, but I don't like it at all. Right now continuing this is even a bit of trouble. I'm thinking of taking a break from writing because I feel that if I force myself to, I'll write utter rubbish. On the contrary I have a feeling that this break won't do me any good. Isn't practise meant to make perfect?
If ballerinas, pianists, athletes only practised when they felt like it, I doubt if they'll be half as good as they are. It sort of feels like a cloud thats hanging over me. A big dark grey cloud that is casting a shadow over me. I hope the wind blows it away because its making me feel very unhappy.
What am I going to do?

Your comment was posted, but it wasn’t long enough to count as a review. Reviews need about four complete sentences (at least 250 characters). Try writing another review that explains your thoughts in more detail — the author will appreciate it, and you’ll earn points for it.
Thank you very much everyone especially Ella(wanted to PM you but didnt find the link). A problem shared is definitely a problem half solved. And maybe I'll make Road Block a complete story, you never know
Really this doesn't belong in this section. Maybe Fiction Discussion and Tips. If you need writing help or advice, ask around. I may not be the best person, but many people on this site are very willing to help you with any problems you might have. Moderators and Instructors will be happy to help so be sure to send them a message if you need it.
You do have skill in writing though. Keep practicing and writing, take criticism and use it to improve your writing. I wish you luck. :].
This is something obviously you understand, and you've already organized your thoughts and put them into words. Maybe you should think about writing a story about or involving this road block.
I've always heard, and found myself, that the best stories are the truly honest stories. Maybe this is a good place to start for you?
Just food for thought.
And best of luck!
Nice

Badminton in particular for me.

Its a very useful tactic
in which case you should write those first.

I know what you mean: I get that sometimes. In fact, most stories i write come to an end at an indefinate point throughout because they all become boring for me
Also, I want to point out that though its rarer, this does happen with other hobbies
(This wasnt meant to intentionlly sound like a doctors analysis but hey :L)
Causes:
- Lack of sleep (so sleep)
- Lack of hydration/ food (so drink coffee/tea/latte grande vanilla (*licks lips*) or eat something. Unless If you are one of those people who can write freely without having to think ahead or plan then thats great.)
- Lack of inspiration (see below
Solutions:
- Read through what you have already written as if only seeing it for the first time and try to find a question (one that interests you) that hasn't yet been answered. Answer it.
- Go for a walk: inspiration or motivation often comes from an experiance
- Daydream: My current stroy is completely based on daydreams of mine
- Write the exciting parts, and skip the fillers until your in the mood. Unless, of course, the thought of writing fillers excites you
- Meet new people: Talk to friends of friends, add more poeple on facebook,bebo/myspace/twitter, find people of YWS, anyone, even a complete stranger, will have something interesting about them that you can use as inspiration.
-Go new places: Go on holiday, or find photos from an old holiday youve been on, get the train/bus to another city with your friends (e.g. i live in bath so we get the train to bristol or london if we are bored with bath) or just visit an old friend in a different neighbourhood
Phew, that was a pretty long review
Good luck
Ella
